Johns Hopkins Pathology

Certification Program

The Laboratory Peer Review Program follows the guidelines in the JHML Certification checklist. This checklist was developed to include the CLIA regulations as well as Joint Commission and CAP guidelines.

At the conclusion of the onsite review, the reviewer prepares a report which identifies two types of recommendations.
  1. Those that will need to be addressed in order to achieve certification and

  2. Those, which will be recommended regarding improvements in compliance.
The laboratory forwards documentation that addresses the required recommendations. Upon receipt and review of the documentation, a certification certificate will be issued. Initial certificates are valid for a 1 year period. Certification renewals may be valid for a two year period.

Questions regarding the Certification process and laboratory review should be directed to the CQI Programs Office in the Department of Pathology.
