 Dr. G. Steven Bova is Board-certified in both Anatomic Pathology and Urologic Surgery and has extensive experience in molecular biology and cancer informatics.  He is director of the PELICAN laboratory, a laboratory combining human tissue-based cancer biology studies and the creation and maintenance of a comprehensive cancer laboratory data integration tool.  The laboratory investigation focuses on the molecular genetics of prostate cancer with a goal of identifying targets for improved therapy of metastatic prostate cancer.  The data integration tool being developed is a Web-based database that will combine patient background, clinical, gross and histopathology, and molecular pathology data in a research-oriented interactive format.

Dr. Giovanni Parmigiani is a biostatistician with experience in probabilistic modeling and simulation, particularly as applied to medical decision making, cancer genetics, and genomics.  He has a primary appointment in Oncology with joint secondary appointments in Biostatistics and Pathology.  Recent projects include a microsimulation model for assessing the long term efficacy of preventive and acute treatment intervention in stroke, and a classification model for predicting which individuals are at high risk of carrying breast and ovarian cancer susceptibility mutations.  In both applications, Dr. Parmigiani has been closely involved with the design, implementation, and analysis of data for the validation of these models.
