Dr. Alan Sussman's research interests include compilers and run-time systems for distributed memory parallel machines, high-performance database devices, parallel I/O systems, object-oriented programming systems and parallel supercomputer applications.  He has been active in the research and development of the Active Data Repository and the Virtual Microscope.

Dr. Gerald Rottman is a Board-certified anatomic and clinical pathologist with extensive experience in scientific computing. Dr. Rottman's interests are in the development of web-based graphical user interfaces to facilitate clinical care as well as automated image analysis. He is involved in both database administration (Oracle) and application development (Java). He has been instrumental in the development and administration of the Informatics Seminar Series.
