Dr. Iacobuzio-Donahue was born and raised in Long Island NY. She earned a
Bachelor of Science in Biology from Adelphi University, followed by both
an MD and PhD degree from Boston University School of Medicine. While in
Boston, she spent three years investigating how colorectal cancers develop
the ability to invade through the colon and spread to other organs
(metastasize). Following her education at Boston University, she moved to
Baltimore MD where she completed a residency in Anatomic Pathology at The
Johns Hopkins Hospital. While in residency, she spent one additional year
of research training with two leading researchers in pancreas cancer, Drs.
Scott Kern and Ralph Hruban, studying the molecular genetics and gene
expression profiles of pancreatic cancer. Her research focuses on developing new
drugs tailored specifically to the unique features of pancreatic cancers,
and on understanding how pancreas cancers grow and spread to other organs.
