Dr. Wells Messersmith is an Assistant Professor of Oncology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center (SKCCC) at Johns Hopkins. He is an active member of both the Gastrointestinal (GI) Oncology and the Drug Development groups at SKCCC. Dr. Messersmith attended Harvard Medical School and did his internal medicine training at the Massachusetts General Hospital (Boston, MA). He did his medical oncology fellowship at Johns Hopkins and joined the Hopkins faculty. Dr. Messersmith's honors include an American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Young Investigator Award, Johns Hopkins Passano Clinician-Scientist Award, and Amgen Oncology Institute Career Development Award. He is the Principal Investigator of numerous clinical trials investigating novel agents for GI cancers at Hopkins and participates in translational laboratory projects directed at developing novel agents for GI cancers.
