Akhilesh Pandey, M.D., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the McKusick-Nathans Institute of Genetic Medicine and Departments of Biological Chemistry and Oncology. He obtained his medical degree from Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, India and completed his residency in Clinical Pathology at the Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He carried out his Ph.D. work with Vishva Dixit at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and his Postdoctoral work in the laboratory of Harvey Lodish at the Whitehead Institute at MIT. He was a Visiting Scientist in the group of Matthias Mann at the University of Southern Denmark before joining Johns Hopkins in 2002. Dr. Pandey has received the Experimental Pathologist-In-Training award by the American Society for Investigative Pathology and the Howard Temin Award from the National Cancer Institute. He currently holds the Kimmel Scholar and the Beckman Young Investigator Awards.
