Mark L. Gonzalgo, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Mark Gonzalgo is Assistant Professor of Urology and Oncology at The Brady Urological Institute. He joined the faculty after completing his general surgery and urology training at Johns Hopkins and a fellowship in Urologic Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
Dr. Gonzalgo specializes in all aspects of urologic oncology including treatment of prostate, bladder, kidney, and testis cancers. He is experienced in both open and minimally-invasive surgical techniques (laparoscopic and robotic-assisted) for treatment of these diseases. He has particular expertise in nerve-sparing radical prostatectomy, orthotopic urinary diversion following cystectomy for bladder cancer, and laparoscopic kidney surgery.
Dr. Gonzalgo is a recognized expert in the field of DNA methylation and is particularly interested in developing new therapeutic approaches for cancer treatment. He has carried out pioneering research on the molecular biology and early detection of prostate, bladder, and kidney cancer and has published extensively on the scientific and clinical aspects of these diseases.
