OUR SCHOOL IS INACTIVE FOR THE 2007-2008 YEAR
THE JOHNS HOPKINS PROGRAM IN THE CLINICAL CELLULAR SCIENCES
CURRICULUM IN CYTOTECHNOLOGY
The Johns Hopkins Program in the Clinical Cellular Sciences (School of Cytotechnology) offers a comprehensive course in cytology leading to Certification in Cytotechnology. The most modern laboratory facilities and teaching aids are employed in this dynamic field. The purpose of the curriculum is to offer education in Cytotechnology and to train students for the detection of cancer and other medical disorders through the microscopical examination of cells.
This one year curriculum, now in its fourth decade, has been designed to train highly motivated students with keen powers of observation to become competent microscopists able to prepare patient specimens and recognize and analyze the varied cellular forms and arrangements which denote the condition of the patient in health and disease.
The curriculum is approved by the Committee on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) of The American Medical Association and the Committee on Accreditation of the American Society of Cytotechnology.
Each annual class begins in September and continues for 12 months, weekdays 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. A Certificate in Cytotechnology is awarded upon the successful completion of all requirements of the curriculum. After graduation the cytotechnologist is eligible to take the certifying examination of the Board of Registry (ASCP).
