The Division of Neuropathology - 2008 |
|
Just as the last decade of the 20th century, the 21st century will be the “Era of the Brain.” With the explosion in knowledge of neurobiology, the advance understanding of the genetic, molecular and cellular bases of diseases, there has been no time of greater promise for discovering answers to questions about how to treat patients with diseases of the brain. Because of almost four decades of commitment to discovery of new therapeutics, and the extraordinary talent and accomplishments of clinical and basic investigators, the Johns Hopkins Division of Neuropathology is positioned to make life-changing scientific discoveries in many complex diseases, such as, Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), as well as other serious illnesses of the nervous system. |
