JoAnn Coleman

[JoAnn Coleman] JoAnn Coleman, RN, MS, ACNP, AOCN is an acute care nurse practitioner in GI Surgery and Surgical Oncology who has specialized in the care and education of patients with pancreatic and biliary disease for the past 21 years. She is certified as an advanced practice oncology certified nurse and is active in the national and local chapter of the Oncology Nursing Society. Presently, she is the Member-at-Large of the American Board of Nursing Specialties. She has contributed numerous articles to medical and nursing journals as well as chapters to nursing textbooks related to GI disorders.

She has a joint appointment in the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing and the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Her specific interests are in patients with liver, pancreatic, gallbladder, bile duct tumors as well as GI stromal tumors and adrenal tumors. Her special interests are the continuum of care, symptom management, quality of life, and palliative and end of life care. She has worked on many research projects related to the surgical management of patients with pancreatic and biliary disorders. She was awarded the Dorothy Evans Lyne Fund for Collaborative Nursing Research from the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing to evaluate the quality and content of the Johns Hopkins Pancreatic Cancer Website.
